Choices
Man at the Crossroads

Every now and then I have to step back from what I am doing and ask myself, am I going in the right direction.

This has helped me to manage my stress and to make sure that I am doing what I want to do as opposed to doing something because I have to.

Talking with many different people and observing, I have found a solid consistent theme about almost everything in life, CHOICE. When we are faced with various situations in life, we all have a choice in the matter. Whether its a positive or negative outcome, the choice is always ours.

For example, when you are dealing with pain from an injury or disease, you have a choice to want to get better or choose to “deal” with the pain. In this situation, many people choose to deal with the pain, depending on the severity of the pain, but most people will just wait until it goes away. I am guilty of this as well, but most recently I have been learning about different modalities that have to do with emotions and how they tie into pain and the body. And in this modality, the practitioner asks you if you are willing to let the emotion go. By this, they mean, are you willing to give up that emotion in return to get rid of the pain that it is causing. For many people and situations, of course they are willing because they do not want to feel that pain anymore. But there are some situations that they are not willing to because they have such a great connection with that emotion that letting it go is not for the best of their well being. Those situations are very difficult to treat because if the practitioner does not have permission to release that emotion from their body, then they will never heal.

Choices are very difficult especially when it comes to emotions. Everyone has their choice in situations and how they react emotionally. Some people have very strong emotions that even the slightest discomfort or threat, they will erupt in big emotions. We also have people that do not show a lot of emotion but something really major will trigger them to blow up.

Basically if we start to practice stress management, we are better off living a pain-free, fulfilling life and we will begin to actually LIVE instead of be a slave to medication or drugs.

Let me know what you guys think about Choice and how you choose to live.
